……………………………………..it’s 2012. Do you know what that means? It means that it’s the year of the dragon – the year where we are all supposed to experience great luck and fortune. Ironically it’s also the year that the Mayans predicted the end of the world on Dec 21st. There’s something else big that I’m forgetting……..oh yeah! That’s right! It’s also the year where I am supposed to be rowing across the Pacific Ocean! Not long to go now and there is SO much to get done before I can leave.

Speaking of things to get done, I’m pleased to announce that on January 26th (Australia Day), myself with fellow adventurers Clark Carter (www.clarkcarter.com) and Margaret Bowling (www.margaretbowling.wordpress.com), will be heading of on a ‘mini’ row of our own. I say mini in comparison to the Pacific, but in terms of difficulty it rates quite high! We are setting out from Wilsons Prom. in Victoria and crossing Bass Strait and then again down the East coast of Tasmania, finishing up in Hobart (Margaret’s home town). The trip is estimated to take us about 12 days to complete, depending on how nice the sea is to us! Margaret is an expert ocean rower and will be giving me some much needed advise in some pretty hectic conditions. We have a tight schedule trying to get everything ready for it including fitting out the boat but we are pretty confident we will get the job done.

We look forward to reporting back to you all about the trip and if you’re down in Hobart in early February, we will post a status on here or on my Facebook page about where you can come and see us arrive…..and when!

I look forward to a very busy year! And a great year for cystic fibrosis awareness! Bring it on!!!!
